Phil Stephenson- General Manager |
Phil Stephenson finished his 4th season as
Head
Baseball Coach at Dodge City Community College. Stephenson was a
three-time, first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection at
Wichita State University, including the Missouri Valley Conference
Player of the Year honor in 1982. A first-team All-American at first
base in 1981 and 1982, Stephenson was named the Baseball News College
Player of the Year in 1982.
Stephenson still holds the Wichita State career records for hits (418),
runs scored (420), RBI (322), total bases (730), stolen bases (206),
walks (300) and hitting streak (47 games). Stephenson held 13
individual NCAA records at the conclusion of his career and still
currently holds NCAA career records for hits, runs, total bases, stolen
bases, and walks.
Stephenson was a 3rd round choice of the Oakland A's in the 1982 free
agent draft. He played 14 years of professional baseball, with 4 of
those coming in the major leagues as a member of the Chicago Cubs and
the San Diego Padres. After retiring in 1995, Stephenson spent 4 years
coaching in professional baseball. He was the Manager of the Year in
1996 with the Abilene Prairie Dogs of the Texas-Louisiania League. He
also managed in the South Atlantic League and was a Hitting Instructor
with the Wichita Wranglers. In 2000, Stephenson was the volunteer coach
at his alma mater, Wichita State. Stephenson has also organized and ran
a charity "Wiffleball" tournament in Wichita to raise money
for
children who have autism and other communication disorders.
In 2007, Stephenson was elected to the National College Baseball Hall
of Fame in Lubbock, Texas. He has also been named one of the 3 best
college baseball players of the 20th Century by Collegiate Baseball and
one of the ten top ten college baseball players of all-time by Baseball
America. He is a member of the Guthrie High School Hall of Fame, Kansas
Sports Hall of Fame, Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame, Wichita State
University Hall of Fame, and the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of
Fame.
A 1983 graduate of Wichita State with a bachelor's degree in Business
Administration, Stephenson and his wife Kim have four children and
reside in Dodge City.

Head Coach- Jeremy Irlbeck |
Jeremy finished his first season as an assistant at Dodge City
Community College. He has been the Head Coach at Minnesota West
Community and Technical College. Prior to Minnesota West, Irlbeck was
the Recruiting Coordinator/Assistant Baseball Coach at Central
Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri. Irlbeck has also coached one
year at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. Irlbeck played college
baseball at Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Irlbeck finished his college career at the University of
Wisconsin-Superior where he was a two-time team captain and on the WIAC
Conference Scholastic Honor Roll. He also spent one year as a student
assistant at Wisconsin-Superior. Irlbeck completed his Masters of
Education Degree from Central Methodist University and received his
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education K-12 from the University of of
Wisconsin-Superior.

Brendon Bump- Assistant/Pitching Coach |
Brendon
comes the A's from Frostburg State. Bump was previously with the
University of South Carolina-Aiken in 2007-2008. Bump pitched for both
Barton County Community College and Marshall University. While at
Marshall, the team played in both the Mid-American Conference and
Conference USA. As a relief pitcher, he helped Marshall make the
Conference USA tournamant his senior season, as well as, setting the
school record for appearances in a single season. His junior year he
lead all Herd pitchers in ERA.
Bump graduated from Marshall University in the summer of 2007 with a
bachelor's degree in Sports Marketing and Management. He is currently
pursuing a Masters of Business Administration at Frostburg State.
