Chris comes to the As as part of the partnership with the Dodge City Community College athletic department. Chris is Currently the Assistant A.D. at DC3. He arrived in Dodge City from Indiana where he was born and raised in South Bend, IN. Both of his parents are long time high school coaches and administrators so it comes at no surprise he chose to go into the coaching profession.
Chris Attended Glen Oaks Community College in Centerville, MI. Then transfer to Holy Cross College where he graduated with a Liberal Arts Degree in the winter of 2015. He was an all conference outfielder both years at HC while also being a part of the schools first 30+ win season in program history as well as setting school and Conference highs in multiple categories as an individual and team. All before the school discontinued the program following the spring of 2015 season.
After graduating spent his first three years as an assistant coach at Indiana University-South Bend and Bethel College. Both NAIAs in the Northern Indiana area. After his years as an assistant under several high profile coaches he made the jump to a head coaching and assistant A.D at Ancilla College.
Ancilla College is a private division 2 junior college located in Plymouth, IN. A member of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. Ancilla was originally founded and run by a catholic group of sisters known as the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC). This was until summer of 2021 when Marian University officially took over operations of the school.
While at Ancilla Chris was responsible for turning the program around. Upon arrival the program was in need of overall improvement in all aspects. He was the spearhead of new scoreboards and sound systems for both baseball and softball. As well as major overhauls and renovation to field and training areas for baseball. “My goal when taking over Ancilla was to leave the program better place when I would eventually leave than the state it was when I took it over. I can honestly say that we did that. We worked tireless night and day to not only recruit and improve our players but also improve all aspects of the program so that the athletes of the future would have a great base to continue to move forward with. We helped create the best baseball field in our conference and our area as well as soccer and training field. I take personal pride in all of our improvements we made over the course of my time.”
After spending 3 1/2 yrs at Ancilla it was hard to leave the program he put so much of his energy and effort into. However he was excited to make his jump to Dodge City to join a very large athletic department as well as a nationally recognized conference.
“Joining the As is a privilege for myself to help the city and program continue to grow stronger with its well established roots. I take personal responsibility for all the players choosing to come to Dodge City to continue to work their craft with us as well as put on a show for our fans. I have a goal to continue to work a good foundation for all of our guys here for the summer. Their parents and college coaches should know they are in good hands and we will look to continue their overall growth on and off the field with our daily work as well as community interactions with the City, local youth, YMCA as well as other business and community endeavors.”
